I remember Joey so clearly from our four years together in Milnes School. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an engaging personality that drew everyone to him.  He was clever and supportive,  the kind of classmate who could lift your spirits when you were feeling down.

I also remember his mother, who was generous enough to invite the whole class over for a  cookout at the end of the school year.  Their yard was so big that we had plenty of room to run around and have fun. It was glorious. Maybe it was only once, but my memory tells me it was at the end of Mrs. Berry's 3rd Grade, Miss Woodbury's Fourth Grade, Mr. Giorda's Fifth and Mrs. Lill's Sixth.   I also remember a song he wrote at the end of 6th Grade to the tune of "Davy Crockett," which was all the rage that year.  "H.B," it went, "H.B. Milnes, we'll all miss you next year."

I am so sorry he died so young.  He made a differece to a lot of young lives.
