(August 20, 1943 - May 6, 2018)

Dorothy Dow, 74, of Howell passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  She was born in Ridgewood and lived in Fair Lawn and Redwood City, CA before settling in Howell 11 years ago.    She worked as a receptionist at Weichert Realtors, Freehold Township.  In her spare time, Dottie volunteered at the thrift shop at CentraState Medical Center. 

An avid bird watcher, she loved gardening and favored spring time flowers.  Dottie enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day and making cookies at Christmas, as well as Broadway plays and her community theater group, The Radburn Players.  Her favorite role was as Grammy and she treasured her grandchildren.   

Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Earl “Boydie” Dow in 2016.  She is survived by her three children, John Bemben and his wife, Jennifer Hedges of Bridgewater, Cathleen Otten and her husband, William of Fair Lawn, and Kelly Dow of Montclair;  three grandchildren, Matthew Bemben, Ryan Bemben and Emma Rose Otten; sister, Patsy Senda and her husband, Charlie from FL; and her cousin, Jinny Sweetman and her husband, Jack from NC.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Friday, May 11, 2018.  Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dottie may be made to Susan G. Komen, Department 41831, Post Office Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
