(November 4, 1943 - September 13, 2020)

Lota, Marilyn (nee Bongiorno), age 76 of Hawthorne, on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Marilyn had resided in Paterson before moving to Hawthorne in 1976. Marilyn had worked as a medical secretary before becoming an Administrative Assistant and then an Executive Administrative Assistant for Degussa Chemical in Parsippany. Marilyn had been a long-time parishioner of St. Anne’s R.C. Church in Fair Lawn. Marilyn Lota was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Lota (1986). Loving mother of David G. Lota and his wife Lisa of Midland Park, and Kathleen H. Lota of West Milford. Dear grandmother of Kalli Lota. Sister of Carol Tjakkes of Toms River, and Helen Bongiorno of Hawthorne. Above all else, Marilyn’s greatest love was for animals of all kinds and opened her home to many over her lifetime. 

Cremation will be private. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, September 17, 2020 meeting at St. Anne’s R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn. Entombment of ashes will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Paterson. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Marilyn had asked that flowers kindly be omitted and memorial donations made to Alzheimer’s Association, the ALS Foundation, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, or to Wounded Warrior.
