 Answers:

1. This is my first visit to the class site.  How do I make an account and log in?

Click on the link at the top of the left side menu where it says "Classmate Profiles."  Find your name in the class list and click on it.  At the top of the page you will see a box that says JOIN HERE! and underneath it says, "If you are <Your Name>, please click here now to create your profile! Click on the "click here now" in blue text.  It will take you to a form asking your contact info, let you create a password of your own choice, etc.  Continue to the next page by clicking the button at the bottom of the page.  You will be taken to a place where you can tell about yourself, upload photos, etc.  <back to top of page>

2.  Who will be able to access to my profile information?

You can choose whether your "Classmate Profile" is publicly viewable on the website (which would make your profile viewable to anyone who visits the site) or restricted to registered classmates only. If restricted, search engines and the general public will be blocked from accessing your Classmate Profile page.  You can also choose whether or not your mailing address and phone number are displayed.  If you choose not to have them displayed, only the City and State where you live will be listed.  Click on the "Edit Profile" link under the "Member Functions" menu in the left side menu, then scroll down to the bottom of the page to check or uncheck the box to note your preference. <back to top of page>

3. I forgot my login information and/or password.  What should I do?

You login with the e-mail address you provided during your member account registration.  If you remember your e-mail address but cannot remember your password, click on the "Forgot password?" link in the "Returning Users: Log On" box.  Enter your e-mail address and click submit.  Within a few minutes, your password will be sent to your e-mail address.

If you have many e-mail addresses and cannot remember the correct e-mail address, click on the "Contact Us" link.  Enter your name, what you need, and the e-mail address you want to use. The site administrator will correct the address for you and mail you a temporary password. <back to top of page>

4.  Does the public or other Classmates have access to my e-mail address?

Other than the site administrators, who are members of your class, no one has access.  To protect your privacy, your e-mail address is stored only within the website, so this website can send you notification of a message. A six-digit Security Code will prevent non-Classmates or "spammers" from sending you junk e-mail.  You can decide to whom you want to give your e-mail address.  Messages from classmates will be sent to your Message Center via this site.  The Message Center is located under "Member Functions" on the left side menu (seen when logged in). <back to top of page>

5. Why are some pages/links locked?

The locked pages contain pictures, programs, documents, and other items relevant to the Fair awn High School Class of '61 that we have decided to keep private. Once you have registered and created a profile for yourself, you will have full access to those pages and be able to view them. <back to top of page>

6. How will I receive e-mails from the Fair Lawn High School Class of 1961 site?

You can send e-mails to our website administrators by clicking on "Contact Us" in the left menu on any page. <back to top of page>

11. How can I check for messages I received and/or sent?

In the left navigation panel under the header "MEMBER FUNCTIONS" click on "Message Center." This will take you to a page that lists all the email messages you have received (IN BOX) and all you have sent (OUT BOX). Your messages will remain there until you delete them. A Key at the top of both the IN BOX and OUT BOX shows symbols representing the status of an email. Each email shows:

   A box to check
   Its status
Who sent it to you (IN BOX) or whom you sent it to (OUT BOX)
   Subject and date of email
   A red "X"

In both the IN BOX and OUT BOX settings, clicking on Profile or the Sender's photo brings up that person's profile page, and clicking on the subject (in blue) brings up the actual email. Clicking inside the box on the far left or on the red "X" on the far right, will turn the background orange. This means that the email can be deleted by choosing the tab at the bottom of the page that says "Delete Checked Threads."

12. How can I know if a classmate has updated his profile or uploaded new photos to his page?

You can keep up to date by "subscribing" to other classmates' profiles, and you will receive an email when they update their pages. You will find this feature in the left navigation menu under "MEMBER FUNCTIONS." It is called "Notify Me." Just scroll down to where you can subscribe to profiles.

To see which classmates have added photos to their profiles, go to "Classmate Profiles" and click on the link for "Profile contains photos." Also be sure to keep checking back to see new photos added to the "Photo Albums" (left menu column). The dates under the albums are when the most recent photo was added to that album. <back to questions about navigating>
